Letters of Assurance/Appraisals

Insurance Letters

We draw up certificates of value for instruments and bows for insurance purposes, based on the cost of replacing the property with the equivalent, if it is replaced within a reasonable time.

It is also possible to obtain a verbal estimate, in some cases.

The condition report

After authenticity, the determining factor in the value of the property is its condition. The condition report is used to record the physical condition of an instrument or bow at a given time. It consists of forms, diagrams, and, if necessary, photos that attest to any changes, modifications or damages, as well as repairs made to the instrument or bow. The condition report must be renewed regularly, but once established, a simple update of the file, following a new examination, a change in condition or an intervention is sufficient. In principle, a condition report should only be provided by qualified persons or companies such as Wilder & Davis that have no financial interest in the item in question.

Once produced, a condition report is part of the official documentation that accompanies an instrument or bow.

Certificate of Authenticity

We do not write certificates of authenticity, but we will be happy to provide you with one at a great price from the most qualified expert for the occasion. Depending on the age, country of origin, condition and status of the instrument or bow, a trip to Europe or the United States is often necessary, in which case the cost of this is partly covered by our company.
